✨ October at Quality Touch✨
October may be known for scares and frights, but this month at Quality Touch, we’re leaning into a different kind of scary: doing the things that challenge us, stretch us, and move us forward.
Sometimes that means stepping into a new opportunity. Sometimes it means taking care of our pelvic health before we feel completely ready. Either way, growth, change, and healing often begin on the other side of something that feels a little uncertain.
And speaking of growth, we would be remiss not to celebrate a milestone that somehow slipped past us in August: Quality Touch turned 6! Six years of serving, evolving, learning, and building something meaningful deserves its moment, even if we are a little late to the celebration.🥴
That same spirit of growth carried into Dr. Q's recent participation in the PowHer Pitch Competition sponsored by the Movement is Life organization in Detroit Michigan. She stepped into another one of those scary but worthwhile moments and shared the vision for Pelviflow® with a new audience. Dr. Q placed 4th of the five finalists and used the moment as a springboard toward continuing her mission of spreading trusted pelvic floor wellness, education, and resources to all! As we move into our seventh year, we are continuing to say 'yes' to opportunities that stretch us, strengthen what we are building, and move Quality Touch toward even greater things.

💫 Quality Touch Tip 💫
Your Pelvic Floor Doesn’t Work Alone
Stiffness through the hips and spine can change how your pelvis moves and how the pelvic floor coordinates with the rest of your body. Keeping these areas mobile can support better movement, pressure management, and pelvic floor function.
Try this: If your hips or low back tend to feel stiff, add a few minutes of gentle mobility such as pelvic tilts, hip circles, or Cat-Cow into your day.
Not familiar with these?Schedule your Pelviflow® Coaching Session or Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy session with Dr. Q for trusted guidance, injury prevention, and support!
Pelviflow® Pose of the Month 🧘🏽♀️
Cat Pose (Marjaryasana) & Cow Pose (Bitilasana)
Pelviflow® focus: This gentle, flowing movement improves spinal and hip mobility, eases lower + mid back tension, and encourages healthy coordination between the diaphragm and pelvic floor through breath and movement.
How-to: Begin on your hands and knees, with wrists beneath shoulders and knees beneath hips. Inhale into Cow Pose, gently lifting your chest and tailbone while allowing your belly to soften & lower. Exhale into Cat Pose, rounding your spine, gently tucking your chin and tailbone while pressing your hands into the surface below. Repeat slowly into each direction, coordinating each motion with your breath.
💡 Pro Tip: Place a folded blanket beneath your knees or wrists for comfort, or perform the same movement while seated, if getting onto your hands and knees is uncomfortable.

We can move forward even when the next step feels uncertain.
💫 October Observances 💫
National Physical Therapy Month
October is National Physical Therapy Month, a reminder that physical therapy can support more than recovery. It can also help you address pelvic floor changes early, move with greater confidence, and take a more proactive approach to pelvic health.
At Quality Touch, that support may include Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy, Pelviflow® Coaching, Yoga, meditation, and other wellness services all designed to help you better understand and care for your pelvic health before concerns become disruptive.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and for some, the thought of scheduling a mammogram can bring a little uncertainty. Routine mammograms often begin around age 40, so this month can be a helpful reminder to check in with your healthcare provider about when screening is right for you. For all age groups, alert your healthcare provider to any changes of your breasts, nipples, or armpits. The CDC also offers breast cancer screening information and resources for free or low cost mammograms for those who qualify.
Menopause Awareness Month
October is also Menopause Awareness Month, with World Menopause Day observed on October 18. This year’s theme, 'Chronic Pain at Midlife', highlights how joint pain, muscle aches, and other persistent discomfort can become more noticeable during perimenopause and menopause.
If some of these changes sound familiar, consider attending the Perimenopause Speed Dating event mentioned earlier. Additionally, two resources Dr. Q commonly recommends to those navigating midlife are The New Perimenopause and The New Menopause by Dr. Mary Claire Haver, MD. These books offer accessible, current information about hormonal changes, common and often overlooked symptoms, treatment options, long term health considerations, and advocacy tools, for more informed care.
